Invicta, the watch retailer, recently added high-resolution LED displays from SNA to its new Times Square store. SNA, LLC is a turn-key provider of LED digital displays. SNA installed the LED video displays at 1535 Broadway. The installation included two S-Video™ video screens, one exterior and one interior. Invicta chose an 8mm pixel pitch model for the outdoor LED display. The pixel pitch measures the distance from the center of each pixel to the center of an adjacent pixel. The screen measures 8’8″ high by 18’11” wide. It consists of 330 pixels high by 720 pixels wide for a total of 237,600 pixels.

The display utilizes surface-mount device (SMD) LED packaging technology from Nichia. The LED display is among many in Times Square, and shares the famous Broadway-facing facade with Times Square’s largest LED video display at the Marriott Marquis.
“We are obviously in a vibrant environment, and we want to stand out to our customers,” Invicta Stores director Mauricio Krantzberg said. “The exterior sign is so bright and so vibrant that it can be seen from almost anywhere in the bowtie. Compared to any of the screens in Times Square, we are very happy with ours.”
The outside retail video display employs the latest chip set available from Nichia Corporation. According to SNA, the chip set from Nichia results in more vibrant colors, greater color consistency, and wider viewing experience compared to other LED displays on the market. The exterior display also offers viewing angles of up to 170 degrees.
“The quality of this display is very noticeable when compared to surrounding displays,” said SNA Vice President Jason Helton. “Many of the square’s newer screens utilize a 10 mm pitch, and this exterior 8 mm display really stands out. The extra resolution and quality are extremely noticeable, especially with texts and logos, which is very important in a brand-saturated atmosphere.”
For the interior screen, which also utilizes Nichia’s SMD packaging, SNA provided a 4 mm (.16″) pixel pitch product. The high-resolution LED retail display inside the Invicta store measures 4’5″ high by 9’6″ wide and features a resolution of 336 pixels high by 720 pixels wide for a total of 241,920 pixels.
According the Krantzberg, high-quality advertising and imaging is directly in line with Invicta’s business model.
“If you want to do something, it’s got to be the best way or you don’t do it at all,” he said. “We offer the best watches, the best quality, and the best value in the market, and we want to portray this attitude with our LED displays, our amazing staff, and our entire store experience.”
