Daktronics of Brookings, South Dakota, has been contracted to supply and install two large LED video displays at Queen Elizabeth. Daktronics claims that the displays will be the largest in-bowl displays in Europe and will be operational at Olympic Park Stadium, London, in time for 2015 Rugby World Cup. Daktronics expects that beginning in the 2016-17 season, when West Ham United FC calls the venue home, the displays will be the largest in the English Premier League.
Each 8-meter by 26.7-meter display will provide more than 420 square meters of displays space combined will feature a 15HD pixel layout for excellent image contrast and clarity. The company says that wide viewing angles ensure a great view from any seat in the stadium. Variable content zoning allows the displays to show one large image or multiple separate zones to show any variety of live video, scores, instant replays, graphics, statistics, animations, and sponsor messages.
“Daktronics is really excited about being part of such a legacy project,” said Daktronics Regional Manager Ewan Prentice. “This stadium has already played host to many records through the London 2012 Olympic Games, and now, by installing the largest stadium video screens within Europe, adds another. All of us at Daktronics can’t wait to see the screens turned on and engaging with the fans.”
