On August 8, 2016, Nichia Corporation filed patent infringement lawsuits against TTE Technology and TCL Multimedia Technology in both the US District Court of Delaware and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
TTE Technology, Inc. is a US-based distributor of LCD TVs, and TCL Multimedia Technology Holdings Limited is an LCD TV manufacturer and the parent company of TTE Technology, Inc.
The patent lawsuit that Nichia filed in Texas alleges that TTE Technology and TCL Multimedia Technology infringed Nichia’s U.S. Patent No. 8,530,250. In the Texas lawsuit. Nichia seeks an injunction to stop the sale and distribution of the allegedly infringing LCD TVs, including the 55-inch Roku TV(55FS3700f). Also in the Texas lawsuit, Nichia is seeking damages for defendants’ past infringement.
In the lawsuit that Nichia filed in the U.S. District Court of Deleware against the two companies, Nichia alleges that the firms have infringed its U.S. Patents Nos. 7,855,092, 7,901,959, 7,915,631 and 8,309,375. In this lawsuit, Nichia is also seeking an injunction directed to the sale and distribution of infringing LCD TVs. In the Delaware lawsuit the allegedly infringing products including the 48-inch LED TV (48FD2700). Like the Texas lawsuit, Nichia also seeks damages for past infringement by both companies.
Nichia ended both news releases about both the Texas and Delaware lawsuits against TTE Technology and TCL Multimedia Technology with the statement and warning, “Nichia seeks to protect its patents and other intellectual property rights and takes actions against alleged infringers in any country where appropriate and necessary.”
