Lumileds of San Jose, California USA, introduced the Luxeon 2835 HE. The Luxeon 2835 HE boasts efficacy of over 200 lumens per watt (LPW), while providing excellent color consistency. Also, the 2835 HE expands on the company’s successful Luxeon 2835 Line. Lumileds optimized the new LED to deliver high efficacy, and the LED features a 2-step MacAdam ellipse color consistency. Applications such as troffers as well as high and low bay fixtures can employ the LED.
The Luxeon 2835 HE comes in a wide range of color temperatures and CRIs of 70 to 90 for a variety of general lighting designs. Also, the LED can serve as a drop-in replacement for 2835 LED packages (2.8 x 3.5 mm), or it can replace 5630 (5.6 x 3.0 mm) or 3030 (3.0 x 3.0 mm) mid-power sockets with similar optical requirements.
LED Binned to 2-Step MacAdam Ellipse
“The LED’s tight color point distinguishes it from other mid-power devices in its class. Design kits to 2-step MacAdam ellipse are available for the ultimate in color consistency for demanding lighting applications,” said Sam Wu, Product Manager of Mid Power Products at Lumileds. The LED delivers 36 lm at 65 mA drive current and 202 LPW, or 220 lm at 480 mA (4000K and 80 CRI).
“Luxeon 2835 HE is ideally suited to troffers, downlights, and lamps where fixture efficacy greater than 150 lumen per watt is paramount and LED count must be minimized,” said Wu.
According to Lumileds, the LED’s high-reliability design enables it to deliver more light from a smaller profile in general lighting applications. Also, unlike many available 2835 LED packages, the company says that the Luxeon 2835 HE is lumen maintenance tested (LM-80) to 12,000 hours, thereby achieving a lumen maintenance of 72,000 hours in the field (L70, TM-21 basis).
