Lumileds of San Jose, California USA has added the Luxeon 2835E 3V to the 2835 Line. According to Lumileds, LEDs in a package measuring 2.8mm x 3.5 mm first gained traction in television backlighting. However, the company says that now the package size is proving convenient in general lighting applications such as lamps like B12 and A19 bulbs, downlights, indoor area lighting such as TLEDs and troffers.
The new Luxeon 2835E 3V boasts efficacy up to 170 lumens per watt (LPW) and meets the DesignLights Consortium® (DLC) Premium requirements.
“Because of the cost sensitivity of this market, other manufacturers have turned to lower cost materials and practices that frankly have impacted long-term reliability,” said Yan Chai, Product Line Director at Lumileds. “Lumileds has maintained its commitment to the highest quality materials including proprietary phosphors, all gold wire bonding, and the tightest process control to deliver the best performance and lumen maintenance.”
DLC Premium V4.1 Qualified
The LEDs are also DLC Premium V4.1 qualified to bring maximum energy savings and offer the highest utility rebates and the potential for EnergyStar® certification of luminaire and lamp designs using the LEDs. The Luxeon 2835 Line includes the 2835C for higher output and 2835E for lower output ranges. The new Luxeon 2835E comes in color temperatures ranging from 2700K to 6500K with a minimum CRI of 80.
At a nominal drive current of 60 mA, the Luxeon 2835E achieves an efficacy of up to 170 LPW, and the 4000K version also at 60mA and 80 CRI produces 30 lumens. Alternatively, the 2835E LED can be driven at up to 150 mA to produce more than 60 lumens at 4000K and 80 CRI.
The Luxeon 2835E also comes in 6V and 9V versions for entry level A19 bulbs. And like other products in Lumileds mid-power Luxeon family, Lumileds uses hot-color targeting of the 6V and 9V 2835E LEDs to ensure accurate color representation at application conditions.
