LG Innotek, a UV LED partner of Laser Components, reported that the company is now offering a 70mW UV-C LED. According to the company, the 278nm wavelength LED features the highest power UV-C LED ever achieved from a single chip.
The company says that the improved light emission of the new UVC chip comes from leveraging the company’s newly developed semiconductor technology.
The device comes in a 6x6mm SMD package that the company claims allows it to operate in virtually any environment. Other performance parameters including the 278 nm wavelength, If, and Vf remain unchanged from earlier versions. Also, the new UV-C LED offers, the same life cycle, stability, and reliability as the previous version.
LG points out that UV-C light commonly used for disinfecting air, water, and surfaces or for curing. With its high power, the 70mW UV-C diode reportedly provides a faster curing rate and reduces the curing time.
