Ford, a U.S.-based maker of cars and trucks, has made available a factory-installed strobe warning LED light kit for F-150 fleet customers for the first time. Ford designed the LED-based strobe light kit to be used by road construction, utility, and municipal crews that need to warn motorists and others that workers may be present and to proceed with caution. The light is only to be used as a warning light near a work site and is not to be used during normal driving. According to Ford, the LED-based strobe light provides enhanced vehicle visibility while working on-site. Already available on 2016 F-Series Super Duty Trucks, the company has now made the lights available for all 2016 F-150 models for fleet vehicles. Ford notes that the strobe light kit employs weather-resistant, durable, low-power LEDs.
The company designed the LED-based strobe kit to work with the F-150 High-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy body.
Ford says that the front- and rear-mounted amber lens strobe lights are visible from as far away as 1,000 feet during daylight hours and a mile at night. For maximum visibility, the forward-facing strobe light signals are high-mounted at the rear edge of the hood. Rear-facing LED strobe light signals are mounted on either side of the center high-mounted stop lamp. Ford says that the rear-mounted LED strobe lights deliver up to 180 degrees of illumination. The flash pattern of the strobe lights is programmable to meet fleet requirements.
“Ford designed the first-ever factory-installed LED warning light kit based on fleet customer input,” said Kent Bock, Ford commercial accessory business development manager. “Because it comes directly from Ford, customers can trust that this light kit is Built Ford Tough. Ordering is as easy as checking a box, and the truck is delivered to your dealer with the system installed.”
The no-drill installation option has a Ford limited warranty of three years or 36,000 miles, and Ford says this type of installation is not susceptible to corrosion issues that can be a result of aftermarket installation. The strobe lights can be serviced at any of the 3000 Ford dealerships nationwide.
Strobe light ordering is available for customers with a fleet identification number.
