Dialight of Farmingdale, New Jersey, a maker of LED lighting and packaged LEDs announced the launch of a new 597 SMD series of LED indicators. According to the company, four new surface mountable indicator LEDs provide electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection and reduced light bleed. The company contends that they also you tighter binning than their previous indicators. Dialight created the new indicator LEDs for networking and control panel applications.
“These new products are a clear indication of Dialight’s dedication to innovation and responding to our customers’ needs,” Matthew Boudiette Dialight vice president of Signals and Components said. “And, because of our 80-year history in the indicator business, customers know they can count on us for the dependability, reliability, and value they need to fit every application.”
The new 597 SMD products include:
The 0603 Tighter Intensity Binning Series boasts increased uniformity in product intensity and better consistency. The series offers two intensity bins of maximum output on green, blue and white LEDs and one intensity bin with maximum output on red, red-orange, orange, yellow and yellow-green. Dialight insists that this series improves design aesthetics with the enhancement of panel and display uniformity.
The 0603 Domed Lens Series features a 60-degree viewing angle, which Dialight says is ideal for light pipe applications. The narrow viewing angle of the Domed Lens series reduces light bleed in applications using multiple OptopipeÒ light pipes and delivers increased on-axis intensity compared to non-domed products of the same size. The Domed Series comes in seven colors.
The 0805 Reflector Cup Series has a 110-degree viewing angle and a built-in reflector cup that projects light wider for better visibility while reducing bleed in light pipe applications and on front panel displays. The 0805 Reflector Cup Series comes in nine colors.
The new 0603, 0606, 0805, and 1206 Series LEDs have an integrated Zener Diode for better ESD protection. According to Dialight, the new 0603, 0606, 0805, and1206 Series LEDs are suitable for handheld and portable equipment, ID tags and other movable applications that have a significant risk of electrostatic discharge (ESD) exposure. The company says that these LEDs with integrated Zener Diodes ensure a more reliable, longer-lasting and more robust product for end users.
The built-in transient voltage suppressor offers Human Body Model Class 2 ESD protection for up to 4,000 volts - the standard for manufacturing and most finished products. These Zener Diode-incorporating LEDs guard against both instant, catastrophic failure that ESD causes, in addition to damage from lower intensity ESD exposure that can cause performance degradation over time.
