Cree, Inc. has introduced the XLamp® XHP50.2 LED. The company says that the XHP50.2 provides up to 10 percent higher lumens-per-watt (LPW) and 7 percent more lumens than the first generation XHP50 LED.
The XHP50.2 comes in the same 5.0 mm x 5.0 mm package.
Cree says that the new LED enables lighting manufacturers to quickly improve the performance of existing XHP50 lighting designs. The new LED can produce more than 2,500 lumens from its 6mm light emitting surface (LES). According to Cree, the XHP50.2 can reduce the size and cost of new designs in applications ranging from spots to street lighting.

In addition to enhancing light output and efficacy, Cree points out that through the use of secondary optics the new LED offers enhanced optical uniformity for spot and portable lighting applications. LM-80 data for the XHP50.2 LED is available immediately.

The new LEDs employ the company’s EasyWhite® technology, which Cree claims provides the industry’s best color consistency. The XLamp XHP50.2 LEDs come in correlated color temperatures of 2700K-6500K with high CRI options.
Cree has now made product samples are available, and production quantities are available with standard lead times.
